Replacing Whirlpool Pump Parts Print E-mail

Parts that are occassionally replaced on a whirlpool pump are generally o-rings and seals. Occassionally, a wet-end may be replaced, but its usually a better option to replace the entire pump should a wet-end replacement be necessary.

Gruber has offered many pumps over the years. Pumps can be divided into two categories - our currently offered pumps, and legacy pumps (old style pumps).

Troubleshooting Whirlpool Pump Problems:

Water leak

1. Look at the Wet End. The wet-end plastic housing will be either gray or black in color.

  • If it is Black, then replacement parts are not available for it, and either then entire wet-end or the entire pump should be replaced. Since the entire pump costs only nominally more than the wet-end, we highly recommend replacing the entire pump. Look on this page for equivalent pumps to our older legacy pumps, or call (800) 257-4070 or +1 (661) 257-4060 for assistance.

  • If it is Gray, then replacement parts such as orings are usually available for it.

2. Observe carefully the source of the leak. It may be coming from the narrow end (which attaches to the motor), or it may be coming from the wet-end outer cover (where the water is pumped out of the pump).

  • If the leak is coming from the narrow end, the Ceramic Seal is likely leaking.

  • If it is coming from the outer wet-end cover plate, then the Wet-End O-Ring is likely leaking
