- New material utilizes new stable chip formulation for longer processing cycles -VALENCIA, California U.S.A., October 18, 2006 – Gruber Systems, Inc., a leading provider of molds, automation equipment and supplies for the cast polymer and other composites related industries – today announced the availability of a new line of Granatex® 600 series of granite-effect fillers. GTX 600 is a unique formulation used for spray manufacturing granite-effect products, resulting in the production of low-cost castings with a high-end granite surface appearance. This new line of Granatex® 600 materials incorporates a new stable chip formulation that extends the stability of resin/chip blends – thus providing manufacturers with added productivity and batch processing times required for spraying material. The unique Granatex® 600 “Spray Granite” formulation is designed specifically to create a granite-effect finish. The material is suitable for dry or wet-spraying behind gel coat or wet spraying directly on a mold surface. A layer of Granatex 600 is sprayed on the surface, then the remainder of the mold is back-filled with a lower-cost substrate. The resulting casting is very low-cost, yet offers a high-end granite appearance. Using this process, the back casting material can also be replaced with fiber-reinforcement for a stronger, yet lighter-weight casting. Like other Granatex solid surface fillers, the 600 line is packaged in a easy-to-use “tear and pour” packaging system, where manufacturers simply blend the resin, filler and catalyst to create a ready-to-pour mix. “Granatex 600 was created as a direct result of manufacturers wanting a way to reduce production costs while still deliverying high quality cast products to market. Granatex 600 Spray Granite offers both”, said John Hoskinson, President and CEO of Gruber Systems. Granatex 600 is currently available in 28 colors and is supplied in 40 or 400 lb. containers.
